Commentary: The Crime of Being Trump

by George Rasley

Melania Trump failed to earn the media’s sympathy for her declaration that she is the world’s most bullied person, wrote Nationally Certified School Psychologist Izzy Kalman in an article for Psychology Today. And rightfully so, said Kalman. That dubious distinction goes to her husband.

Kalman is right, but the bullying of Donald Trump, his family and supporters has gone well beyond the political attacks that are the lot of any president and his party and moved into an irrational hatred that has spawned a host of illegal acts by the President’s opponents.

Everyone knows about the assaults, beatdowns and vandalism perpetrated by anti-Trump factions and individuals, such as those associated with the Communist-inspired Antifa.

Now NBC News reports a new avenue of attack against Donald Trump, his family and supporters. New York Attorney Gen.-elect Letitia James says she plans to launch sweeping investigations into President Donald Trump, his family and “anyone” in his circle who may have violated the law once she settles into her new job next month.

“We will use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family as well,” James, a Democrat, told NBC News in her first extensive interview since she was elected last month.

James outlined to NBC some of the probes she intends to pursue with regard to the president, his businesses and his family members. They include:

Any potential illegalities involving Trump’s real estate holdings in New York, highlighting a New York Times investigation published in October into the president’s finances.

The June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Russian official.

Examine government subsidies Trump received, which were also the subject of Times investigative work.

Whether he is in violation of the emoluments clause in the U.S. Constitution through his New York businesses.

Continue to probe the Trump Foundation.

“We want to investigate anyone in his orbit who has, in fact, violated the law,” said James, who was endorsed by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

James campaigned on passing a bill to change New York’s double jeopardy laws with an eye on possible pardons coming out of the White House. James told NBC News she wants to be able to pursue state charges against anyone the president pardoned over federal charges or convictions and whose alleged crimes took place in the state. Under current New York law, she might not be able to do that observed the NBC news team.

Meanwhile, a Washington Post article speculated that Donald Trump Jr. “inadvertently may have wandered into legal jeopardy” by participating in a Trump Tower meeting with a Russian, who sought the meeting on the pretense of having dirt on Hillary Clinton, but ultimately produced nothing.

Jay Sekulow, one of the president’s lawyers, said in an interview on ABC’s “This Week” that “the question is what law, statute or rule or regulation’s been violated?”

“Nobody’s pointed to one,” he said, but that hasn’t kept the anti-Trump bullies in the media from pushing the narrative that Don Jr. is headed for the pokey.

A New York AG investigation into the Eric Trump Foundation, run by Donald Trump’s middle son, also remains open. New York’s current Democrat Attorney General alleges he illegally used his charity’s money to settle business disputes and boost his political fortunes. Eric Trump and two siblings are also named as defendants.

Eric Trump’s charity, renamed Curetivity, says it has raised millions of dollars to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The dollars involved and allegations pale in comparison to those related to the Clinton Foundation, also a charity subject to New York law, but so far there is no one in the New York AG’s office going fishing in the doings of Bill and Hillary Clinton’s eponymous foundation.

And then there are the ruinous investigations of those in President Trump’s “circle.”

LTG Mike Flynn, President Trump’s National Security Advisor, who was set-up in a perjury trap by crooked FBI Agent Peter Strzok, hounded into bankruptcy and eventually pled guilty to lying to the FBI.

George Papadopoulos, a bit player in the campaign, who was likewise set-up and used as a pretext for the infamous FISA warrants, and likewise pled guilty to lying to the FBI after being hounded into bankruptcy.

Carter Page, another bit player in the campaign, who was likewise set-up and used as a pretext for the infamous FISA warrants, and after being hounded by the FBI and congressional investigators, has never been charged with any crime.

Then there are our friends Dr. Jerome Corsi and Roger Stone.

Stone, a longtime political advisor to Donald Trump has likewise been hounded by the FBI and Mueller’s investigators for having the temerity to urge Donald Trump to run for President and helping to formulate Trump’s announcement and early campaign strategy.

Of the many speculative stories leaked to the media about Stone’s involvement in the Trump campaign, not one has identified a crime attributable to his actions on behalf of Trump.

The saga of the persecution of Dr. Jerry Corsi is even more abusive. Corsi, a journalist and conservative pundit has been hounded by Mueller for the crime of being right and figuring out the timeline of the WikiLeaks dumps of hacked emails related to the Hillary Clinton campaign.

Corsi was likewise set-up in a perjury trap and threatened, at the age of 72, with what amounted to a life prison sentence. Corsi has bravely fought back and sued Mueller, accusing the Special Counsel of leaking grand jury items and various constitutional violations, including illegal surveillance, reports said.

Politico reported that the newly filed suit claims that Mueller tried to get Corsi to give testimony that Corsi said is false. He is reportedly seeking $100 million in actual damages and $250 million in damages due to injury to his reputation. The CIA, FBI, and the National Security Agency were also named in the suit.

While these crimes of being Donald Trump, being related to Donald Trump or being in Donald Trump’s “circle” are outrageous, the opprobrium heaped on the Trump family by the establishment media and popular culture has also claimed another innocent victim totally unrelated to Donald Trump: Josh Trump of Delaware.

Megan Fox, writing for our friends at PJ Media, reports an eleven-year-old boy named Josh Trump has been the brunt of ridicule since the 2016 election.

Josh has been taunted mercilessly at school while his teachers at the Brandywine School District in Delaware do nothing. “They curse at him, they call him an idiot, they call him stupid,” reported his mother, Megan Trump, to ABC 6 news. The abuse is not just verbal but also physical. Joshua has reported being punched on the bus.

His parents even homeschooled Joshua for one year, hoping that by the time he got back the kids would forget about it. That didn’t happen reported Ms. Fox. The abuse has gotten so bad that Joshua is now changing his last name.

Joshua Trump’s parents informed the principal, Mark Mayer, of the abuse — which he acknowledged, but did nothing about.

Perhaps, Mr. Mayer fears being subjected to punishment for the newly invented crime of defending Donald Trump, as was school psychologist Izzy Kalman. After posting his article about the bullying of Donald Trump, Kalman was apparently bullied into posting a clarification saying that some readers failed to understand the point of his essay, and that he wasn’t defending Trump or his policies.
