The man who allegedly beheaded his girlfriend on Shakopee Street is confirmed to be an illegal alien. Alexis Saborit-Viltres was arrested and charged last week with murder following the death of America Thayer, Saborit-Viltres’ longtime girlfriend. Saborit-Viltres allegedly used a machete to behead Thayer in her vehicle. After that, Saborit-Viltres allegedly dumped her body in the street and left.
It was later discovered that Saborit had a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hold on his record and was considered to be a danger to the public. An ICE spokesperson shared with Alpha News that “Alexis Saborit-Viltres, 42, is a citizen of Cuba who is unlawfully present in the United States. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has not placed a detainer on Saborit-Viltres following his recent arrest for second-degree murder in Shakopee, Minnesota.”
According to Alpha News, ICE attempted to deport Saborit-Viltres back to Cuba in 2012, but it was not successful because Cuba refused to approve the travel documents that Saborit needed.
According to a release order from 2017, Saborit-Viltres was subject to an ICE hold. On the same release order, he was given a domestic abuse no-contact order. The order was granted on the conditions of keeping court appearances, “remaining law-abiding,” and not violating the no-contact order.

As reported by The Minnesota Sun, Saborit-Viltres was also convicted of two additional misdemeanors in 2019, violating his conditional release from 2017. Following an arson charge in 2020, Saborit-Viltres was also ordered to have a mental health evaluation.

As was reported by Alpha News, “On March 31, 2021, Saborit[-Viltres’] conditional release [from 2017] was ordered revoked because he failed a urinalysis, which came back positive for alcohol in violation of his release conditions.” The order requesting revocation of the conditional release read, “Continued release of defendant will endanger safety of any person or the community.”
Despite the recommendation that he not be released, Judge Richard C. Perkins reportedly ordered Saborit-Viltres’ release, knowing he was an illegal alien who had a violent criminal history and was suspected to be mentally unstable and a danger to the public.

According to documents obtained by Crime Watch Minneapolis, Saborit-Viltres had out-of-state domestic abuse charges as well. He reportedly had “two separate prior criminal convictions on domestic abuse-battery in in [sic] Jefferson Parrish, Louisiana.”
