Have you noticed that every time establishment Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill try to ram through an amnesty for illegal aliens there’s a new immigration “crisis” to add a bit of pathos to their calls for open borders?
The latest phony crisis is the plight of child border crossers who are being separated from their parents at the border.
As our friend Michael F. Haverluck of OneNewsNow.com put it, Democrats and open borders Republicans are claiming the Trump administration is running concentration camps for children who illegally enter the United States alone or with parents who are being processed by the U.S. government.
“We can’t find a solution to this problem without harming children without putting them in concentration camps?” former Obama 2012 Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter asked on Live with Stephanie Ruhle, according to TheBlaze.
Virulent anti-Trumper, former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, also chimed in on the issue by backing his Democratic colleague and going as far as to imply that President Donald Trump’s immigration policy resembles what was implemented under Nazis during World War II … or by slave holders before the Civil War.
“And I would even say, Stephanie, to that point, it’s not even an interpretation of the law – it is a policy,” Steele said on the MSNBC show Friday, as reported by TheBlaze. “And a policy that has been invoked by the President of the United States and dictated to his attorney general, who goes out and quotes the Bible – by the way, a passage that was used to justify slavery in this country – to justify encamping children.”
Steele went on in his narrative that portrayed Trump as a cross between a modern-day Adolf Hitler and a slave master, punctuating his criticism with an alarmist warning to parents across the country.
“I call this a concentration camp for kids because that’s exactly what it’s turning out to,” Steele continued. “When you give kids 22 hours of lockup time and two hours of air time, what else can it be? And if this is where this country is going, the American people need to wake up and pay attention. Because your kids could be next.”
This new “crisis” even spooked Hillary Clinton out of her hole to virtue signal about her days as a Sunday School teacher and to quote Matthew 19:14* as a justification for opening the borders.
Even leading U.S. Catholic bishops have joined the media mob that’s going after the Trump administration for separating children from their parents at the border.
As Jason Jones and John Zmirak observed in a recent article for The Stream, “That’s about the level of complexity most stories on this subject ever attain. Family good, Trump bad. Bishops who fall weirdly silent when their local Catholic senator or congressman votes pro-abortion are trumpeting condemnations. Cardinal Dolan just slammed Attorney General Jeff Sessions for imposing an ‘unjust law’ which no Christian should obey.”
However, Jones and Zmirak point out Christians see many situations where most people recognize that we need to separate children temporarily from their parents:
Where we suspect abuse.
When we arrest a parent for breaking the law.
When the parent goes off on military duty abroad.
Does anyone damn the president every time he orders soldiers to combat zones, far from their children? Or child protective services when they temporarily hold a child? Or our courts for justly imprisoning parents?
Yet in the current immigration situation, note Jones and Zmirak, consider what our law enforcement professionals must deal with:
The fact of human trafficking. Every year thousands of children get raped, abused, and sold. Right here in America. Many of these kids are immigrants, and a key tactic traffickers use is to pretend that they are their parents. Don’t we have to make sure that the “parents” who bring in kids aren’t predators?
The crisis created by the Mexican government. These migrants from Central America claim that the chaos in their home countries amounts to “persecution.” If so, then by international law they must seek refuge in the “first safe country.” That was Mexico, which didn’t offer them asylum, but shipped them north to us.
The recklessness of immigrants, who bring their vulnerable children on a long journey through Mexico to take a chance on getting U.S. citizenship. How “reckless”? The Huffington Post reported that 80% of women and girls from Central America who enter the U.S. illegally suffer rape. Eighty percent.
The crackpot legal loophole created by U.S. courts. It faces the harried professionals trying to guard our borders with the choice of either separating families or letting all families go free into the U.S. Most will never show up for hearings. So bringing your kid amounts to get-into-the-U.S.-free card.
What’s more, the federal government during the Obama years failed to protect thousands of Central American children who flooded across the U.S. border since 2011, leaving them vulnerable to traffickers and to abuses at the hands of government-approved caretakers, a Senate investigation has found.
The Office of Refugee Resettlement, an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services, failed to do proper background checks of adults who claimed the children, allowed sponsors to take custody of multiple unrelated children, and regularly placed children in homes without visiting the locations, according to a 56-page investigative report reviewed for the Washington Post by investigative reporter Abbie VanSickle.
Barring a change in the law, if we stop separating kids from their families, that means letting virtually every immigrant who enters the U.S. illegally with a child enter the country and live in the U.S. indefinitely observed Jones and Zmirak.
Do we really want to encourage the whole of Central America, then South America, to start the dangerous trek, complete with kids, through drug-cartel-controlled territory? Across raging rivers and impassable deserts? That’s what we’d be doing if we rewarded every survivor with free passage into our country. Since 147 million people seek admission to America, the body count will be high. Quite a price to pay for cheap grace and cheap labor.
Much better to embrace the “tough love” Jeff Sessions is offering. He spoke as a faithful citizen and a good Christian when he said: If you are smuggling a child, then we will prosecute you and that child will be separated from you as required by law. If you don’t like that, then don’t smuggle children over our border.

The socialist, globalist and no borders people are trying their best to make a bad situation worse. They don’t respect the law unless it’s a law they like and they truly dislike this country or they wouldn’t act like this.
I have a suggestion for them – go to Venezuela and live and take Bernie Sanders with you.
