On Monday, the lower house of the California State Legislature passed a bill that would incentivize out-of-state children to come to the state to receive life-altering “gender transition” treatment if their home states have banned such procedures.
Fox News reports that the bill, SB 107, was passed by the California State Assembly after initially being introduced by State Senator Scott Wiener (D-Calif.), who has become notorious for introducing and passing numerous bills to legalize sexually degenerate behavior and loosening penalties for sexual crimes, among other drastic far-left measures. Wiener, who is homosexual, represents a district that includes San Francisco.
“California must stand with LGBTQ kids and their families, especially when they’re under attack across the country,” said Wiener in a statement. “Parents should never be separated from their kids or criminalized for simply allowing them to be who they are.” The bill ostensibly allows children who are denied gender-altering procedures in one state to come to California to receive such treatments uninhibited.
The bill now heads to the State Senate, where it will likely pass. The legislation was introduced in response to several Republican-led states cracking down on the idea of “transgenderism,” which falsely claims that there are more than two genders, and that anyone can change their gender at any time. The transgender agenda has led to increased calls from the far-left for young, prepubescent children to undergo sexual mutilation to indulge in the fantasy – held by either the children themselves or by their parents – that they were somehow born with the wrong gender.
In particular, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) ordered the state’s Department of Family and Protective Services (FPS) to “conduct a prompt and thorough investigation of any reported instances” regarding “so-called ‘sex change’ procedures,” as such a procedure “constitutes child abuse under existing Texas law.”
“It is already against the law to subject Texas children to a wide variety of elective procedures for gender transitioning,” Abbott wrote in his executive order back in February, “including reassignment surgeries that can cause sterilization, mastectomies, removals of otherwise healthy body parts, and administration of puberty-blocking drugs or supraphysiologic doses of testosterone or estrogen.”
In response to the new California bill, Greg Burt, Director of Capitol Engagement with the conservative group California Family Council, declared the legislation to be a direct violation of parental authority over their own children.
“This bill declares war on parents throughout the country who don’t want their children sterilized because of their gender dysphoria, a condition that resolves itself in most cases after a child reaches adulthood,” Burt pointed out.
