Tennessee Senators Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander, both Republicans, issued statements Monday criticizing the Trump administration for separating children from their parents when detained at the U.S./Mexico border, as the Times Free Press reported:
“While the issues surrounding our immigration system are complex, we can all agree that innocent children should be protected and not used for deterrence,” said Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
He said the administration “should use all tools available to stop needless family separation without delay, and Congress should act swiftly to address the serious challenges facing our nation’s immigration system.”
Alexander’s statement read, “Illegal immigration is against the law but new enforcement policies have resulted in hundreds of children being separated from their parents. The administration should end that new policy immediately while Congress works with the president on a bipartisan immigration solution that secures the border, provides a status for those already here and prevents a humanitarian crisis at the border.”
SuperTalk 99.7 WTN veteran broadcaster Brian Wilson, host of Nashville’s Morning News, took up the subject in his broadcast on Tuesday, explaining that “The president is enforcing the rule of law. President Obama did not.”
The law requiring the separation of children illegally crossing the border from the adults illegally crossing the border under certain circumstances was signed by President George W. Bush.
After playing an extended audio clip of President Trump’s recent comments, including blaming Democrats for obstructing any legislation to solve the issues at the border and calling for them to negotiate, Wilson said, “I predict they won’t do that because they don’t really want to solve the problem, they want the issue. They want to pound the table. They need something that gets them into the midterm elections and this is it.”
Wilson added that if Democrats succeed, they will “turn back the clock” and return to Obama era policies on immigration. He credited Trump for enforcing the law, while saying former President Barack Obama did not.
He also slammed Republicans in general and GOP Sens. Corker and Alexander in particular for abandoning Trump on the issue and siding with the Democrats.
Eleven other Republican senators–including such well known “RINOs” as Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), as well has long-time Never Trumper Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) have joined Corker and Alexander in their call for President Trump to stop enforcing our immigration law at the border.
The majority of Republican senators–38 as of the publication of this article–remain steadfast in their support of President Trump and his commitment to the rule of law.

Here’s how the immigrants under Obama were treated.

Add these two RINOs with the DIMM WITS! All they want is to rebuild their voter base! These children are being dragged thru several countries, exposed by extreme weather, wild animals, Human Traffickers! Parents &/or adults accompanying them are only USING them! CPS ought to be standing at the border to permanently take their children away as they do to thousands of American families for ABUSE!!!! Not to mention that several of these little girls have in their possession, the morning after abortion kits to use when they are raped along the way! What MONSTER parent sends a child thru these conditions?!?!?!? And what American Politician can SUPPORT this ATROCITY?!?!?
[…] two U.S. Senators, Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker each released a statement opposing the administration’s zero-tolerance immigration policy including separating children […]
They don’t seem to mind that Paul Manafort was separated from his family
Liddle bobby is a nonentity anymore and he knows it. Alexander needs to see the writing on the wall and not run again. If he does, he is going to be embarrassed. As far as Haslam–there has to be SOMEONE in this entire State who can rally Conservatives, Trumpers and Tea Partiers and find some $$ out there to run against haslam.
I would like to think so, but the problem lies in the mass of low information voters who think Haslam is a nice guy, which he very well might be, and the $zillion of advertising that will reinforce the thought that Haslam is a nice guy. Joe Carr came close to defeating a “nice guy” but he couldn’t raise enough money to get his message statewide even after Alexander showed himself to be infuriatingly worthless after years in the Senate. Haslam hasn’t shown himself to be worthless in the Senate, he wisely doesn’t choose too many hills to die on in resolutely opposing conservatives (unlike Sundquist), and he has much more money than Alexander. There will be many other fish to fry if conservatives simply can’t come up with an answer to this one.
Can someone tell me why the families are being seperated? Let them stay together and send them all freaking home. They’re using the system strategically to infiltrate the country illegally and the thumb sucking leaders of the country are feeling empathetic all of the sudden. Where’s your empathy for the unborn being mutilated in this country? What? It’s not against the law you say? Entering the country illegally is. Case closed
We wouldn’t have Republican majorities in Congress or have the White House listening to the advice of these two numbnut RINOs.
I would bet there are $75 Jeb! guacamole bowls somewhere in their offices.
Consider this my vote of no confidence in Dr. Evil and Mini-Me.
Corker will soon be gone. And given Alexander’s age (soon to be 78), conservative Tennesseans can only hope that Alexander will in the near future announce his ‘retirement’ from the Senate (like Corker did when he was forced to accept the idea that he would not be re-nominated if he sought reelection). In my opinion, Alexander does not adequately represent the political views of the people of Tennessee. I look forward to the day when Alexander either announces his decision to retire from the Senate, or some strong viable conservative candidate successfully primaries him and sends him home to his family.
He’s gone after this term and Haslam is all set to replace him and maybe we will buy ourselves about 20% better Heritage score than Alexander’s abominable 47%.
Is there a conservative who can beat Haslam? Will one even try? I doesn’t look so good right now – too much money and too much popularity.
Alexander and Corker, along with a long listed of supposed conservatives, are spewing falsehoods concerning this topic just to gain support from a gullible public that does not take the time to learn the facts. The solution for this perceived problem is to stop the illegals before they cross our border. How about some compassion for the beleaguered American citizen you two Bozos. (my apology to Bozo the Clown for using his name in vain.) Come you clowns. Go to work for the American citizens,. The ones you are posturing against.
