Crime Syndicate Targeting Hispanics Busted in Nashville

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) indicted six suspects linked to violent robberies over a period of years that specifically targeted Nashville’s Hispanic community.

“According to police, the six suspects were linked to 150 holdups that primarily targeted Latino families. It is estimated that the group robbed more than $150,000 in cash and belongings from victims and committed 29 violent robberies,” WKRN reported. “Police said the robberies occurred in parking lots at first and evolved into victims’ homes. Armed suspects would often make their entry through unlocked sliding glass doors.”

As of Friday, four of the six suspects are in police custody, and two suspects, one male and one female, remain at large.

The crew of alleged armed robbers have racked up more than 100 criminal charges. Its members reportedly knew each other from high school, and have been committing robberies together since then.

Star News Education Foundation Journalism ProjectPolice allege that the crew, which lived in Clarksville, would rent cars to drive to Nashville. Once there, according to at least one suspect, they targeted the Hispanic community because that community deals mostly in cash, and would be afraid to contact the police after being robbed.

According to law enforcement, the suspects were both brazen and sophisticated.

“They actually did a home invasion 500 feet from a marked police car. In our interviews we know they did counter surveillance and they know how the police respond to calls and it was really sophisticated,” Det. Sgt. Will Amundson of MNPD told WKRN. “There’s prior military experience by some, and they would drive from Clarksville down to Nashville and perpetrate robberies in rental vehicles.”

Suspect Montez Brown, 27, is the alleged ringleader of the group. He faces 62 counts of aggravated robbery, seven counts of aggravated burglary, 37 weapons charges, and three counts of aggravated assault.

Anthony Campbell III, 27, faces four counts of aggravated robbery, one count of aggravated burglary, and one weapons charge. Tevin Kelly, 27, faces one count of aggravated robbery. Additional charges against him are reportedly expected.

Nathan Rosenthal Jr., 30, faces four counts of aggravated robbery, one count of aggravated burglary, and two weapons charges.

Quanisha Moore, 26, faces 10 counts of aggravated robbery, and has not yet been apprehended by police. Demarrious Malone, 29, faces three counts of aggravated robbery (pictured right). He remains at large.
