Klobuchar Campaign Offers ‘Hotdish Recipe’ as Incentive to Donors

Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s presidential campaign has gone full-Minnesotan after offering to give “Amy’s hotdish recipe” to prospective donors.

“You may have heard that Minnesotans love a good hotdish. Amy is no exception,” her campaign said in a fundraising email. “In fact, Amy’s hotdish recipe is so good that it would be just plain unfair to keep it to ourselves. So here’s what we’re going to do: If you donate $1 or more to this campaign today, we’ll email you Amy’s special hotdish recipe so you can try it at home and tell us how good it is!”

Klobuchar qualified for the upcoming September 12 in Houston, Texas, but warned in another email that the Democratic National Committee “could raise the threshold for participation in the next series of debates” at any moment.

“That means we need to keep showing, consistently, that this is the candidate and the team that can take on Donald Trump and win,” her campaign said.

The second fall debate is set to take place in Ohio on October 15. Each candidate will have until October 1 to meet the donor and polling thresholds. As was the case for qualifying for the September 12 debate, candidates must receive at least two percent in four DNC-approved polls and receive donations from at least 130,000 unique donors. Additionally, they must receive support from 400 donors in at least 20 states.

Klobuchar was one of just 10 candidates to qualify for the September 12 debate. ABC News and Univision, hosts of the debate, recently announced the lineup.

As The Minnesota Sun reported, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is posing a threat to Klobuchar in her home state. Warren recently drew a crowd of 12,000 for a campaign rally at Macalester College. Warren also beat Klobuchar in the DFL’s annual Minnesota State Fair bean poll.
