Meta on Friday launched a paid verification service for Facebook and Instagram that offers a profile badge and identity monitoring services in exchange for subscription fee.
While the company will not charge fees to existing verified accounts, others seeking verification must pay $11.99 per month on the web or $14.99 per month on mobile device, according to The Hill.
The service further offers access to direct account support, “proactive account protection,” and access to exclusive stickers for use on Instagram Stories and Facebook Reels.
Meta tested the service with a rollout in Australia and New Zealand, where it afforded subscribers boosted reach and visibility, though that feature is on hold for the official release.
The company’s paid verification service follows a similar development at the Elon-Musk-owned Twitter, which has already created its own paid verification system, Twitter Blue, that costs $8.00 per month.
