Minnesota Democrat Leader: You’re Either with Us, or You’re a ‘Nazi’

A day before President Joe Biden was sworn into office with the stated goal of unifying the United States, the head of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) made sure to take one last jab at Republicans.

“I think the Republican Party has a choice to make because there’s two sides,” DFL Chairman Ken Martin said in an online press conference. “You’re either on the side of Nazis and White supremacists and far-right groups, or you’re on the side of Democracy and liberty and freedom and our Constitution.”

Martin’s press conference was focused on the topic of election integrity, which has been one of the top national political battles since November 3. Republicans are seeking reforms after what many viewed as a less-than-secure election, which was conducted in large part by mail for the first time in America’s history.

Questioning the integrity of the 2020 election, though, is “anti-democratic,” according to Democrats like Martin.

Aligning themselves with “democracy” and demonizing political opponents as “nazis,” “fascists,” or “White supremacists”  – in other words, the antithesis of democracy – has become a common rhetorical tool used by the political left.

But Martin did not stop there. He wants the Republican Party to be held accountable for supporting former President Donald J. Trump.

“Let’s make no mistake about it, as I’ve said before, we cannot begin to heal as a country until there’s accountability,” he said.

He also called Trump’s presidency a “long national nightmare.”

Biden took the oath of office Wednesday, becoming America’s forty-sixth president.

But other Minnesota Democrats are not living up to Biden’s promise of unity either, as reported by The Minnesota Sun.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) gave the opening remarks at Biden’s inauguration Wednesday, where she, too bashed Republicans as “anti-Democratic.”

“Two weeks ago, when an angry, violent mob staged an insurrection and desecrated this temple of our democracy, it awakened us to our responsibility as Americans,” she said during her speech. “This is the day when our democracy picks itself up, brushes off the dust, and does what America always does: goes forward as a nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
