Several Minnesota Republican lawmakers Thursday critiqued the Biden administration for the recent inflation happening in the country. Minnesota Representatives Tom Emmer (R-MN-06), Jim Hagedorn (R-MN-01), and Pete Stauber (R-MN-08) called out the Biden administration for its part in driving prices higher.
Rep. Hagedorn said, “Gas prices are at a 7-year high with only 8 states under $3 per gallon. The Biden Administration’s anti-energy policies and skyrocketing inflation are directly impacting Americans at the pump.”

“Biden administration officials are so out of touch that they can’t understand inflation is eating away at the budgets of working families,” Rep. Emmer added. “The only ‘high class’ problem here is that White House officials can’t relate to millions of Americans.”

Rep. Stauber agreed, saying that the inflation has been caused by Biden’s “disastrous agenda.” “Remember, inflation is a tax on every hardworking American. And the spikes in inflation are because of Biden’s disastrous agenda.”

According to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Bloomington areas, general prices are up 5.4% from one year ago.
The price of groceries grew 5.7 percent over the last year. “Prices for food at home advanced 7.1 percent since a year ago, and prices for food away from home rose 3.7 percent,” the report said.
Furthermore, Minnesota energy prices have increased “31.5 percent over the year, largely due to higher prices for gasoline (45.6 percent).” The report said part of that was also due to the increase in cost for utility gas.
“Prices paid for utility (piped) gas service jumped 60.3 percent, while prices for electricity decreased 1.5 percent during the past year,” the report said.
