Multiple Requests Filed for Formal Investigation Into Ilhan Omar’s Alleged Criminal Conduct

State Rep. Steve Drazkowski (R-Mazeppa) announced Tuesday that he’s submitting a formal request for a full investigation of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN-05) wrongdoings to the U.S. House Committee on Ethics.

Drazkowski made the announcement during a press conference Tuesday at the Minnesota State Capitol, where he said Omar “may be the most corrupt politician in Minnesota history.”

“Had it not been kept from the public she likely would not be a member of Congress today,” he said. “Representative Omar deceived the IRS in filing her taxes when she filed jointly with someone who she was not legally married to. She deceived the voters, she lied to them about her sham marriage to Ahmed Elmi.”

As The Minnesota Sun reported, Drazkowski had previously asked Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN-02) to request an ethics investigation into Omar, but Craig allegedly dismissed the request and its importance.

“I believe there is sufficient evidence to warrant an investigation. Congresswoman Omar has demonstrated a consistent pattern of deceptive and criminal conduct. The facts laid out in this request clearly show that there is probable cause for such an investigation,” Drazkowski writes in his letter to the U.S. House Committee on Ethics.

“The United State of America is a nation of law and order. No one is above the law, and our elected officials must always be held accountable,” he concludes his letter.

The letter provides a “categorized outline of the specific abuses committed by Congresswoman Omar,” including immigration fraud, federal student aid fraud, perjury on a court application, bigamy, kick-backs, diversion of campaign funds, and personal profiteering.

In a statement released after Tuesday’s press conference, Drazkowski noted that Omar has “repeatedly refused to answer questions regarding her tax returns, marriages, and federal student aid.”

“Representative Omar has not been forthright with the good people of Minnesota; plain and simple. She has been deceptive about her past, and refuses to provide answers. The people have got to know whether their Congresswoman is a crook,” Drazkowski added.

He went on to claim that “exhaustive reports and inquiries have shown that probable cause clearly exists in this case.”

“Probable cause is the standard authorities use to launch investigations,” he continued. “The investigation of Ilhan Omar must begin.”

He concluded by criticizing Minnesota’s local media for committing the “egregious sin of omission” in their “failure to properly investigate the issue.”

“If a conservative lawmaker deceived the people of Minnesota in a similar fashion, then the press would be staked outside their home,” he said.

Drazkowski also announced the launch of a new website, “OmarTruth.com,” which will “give people in Minnesota and throughout America the ability to support Drazkowski’s efforts to reveal the truth,” said a press release.

The website currently contains a petition in support of Drazkowski’s request for an ethics investigation and had more than 1,000 signatures at the time of publication.

Judicial Watch also filed a request Tuesday with the U.S. House of Representatives Office of Congressional Ethics for a formal investigation into Omar.

“The evidence is overwhelming Rep. Omar may have violated the law and House rules. The House of Representatives must urgently investigate and resolve the serious allegations of wrongdoing by Rep. Omar,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a press release. “We encourage Americans to share their views on Rep. Omar’s apparent misconduct with their congressmen.”
