GETTR CEO Jason Miller Welcomes Trump to Social Media World

Despite former President Donald J. Trump’s Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) announcing plans to become a rival of newly-launched social media site GETTR, the CEO of the latter firm welcomed Trump into the social media space.

“Congratulations to President Trump for re-entering the social media fray! Now Facebook and Twitter will lose even more market share. President Trump has always been a great deal-maker, but we just couldn’t come to terms on a deal,” Jason Miller said in a Wednesday statement. “And get ready for the new platform features GETTR has on the way: live-streaming, GVision short videos and our GETTR Pay payments system capabilities. Exciting new additions that will provide our global customer base an even better user experience. Let the downloads begin!”

Wednesday, Trump announced that through a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) called Digital World Acquisition Corp., a publicly-traded company that just raised more than a quarter of a billion dollars. The merger will immediately make TMTG a publicly-traded company.

TechCrunch says the initial valuation of TMTG will be $875 million.

Trump’s goal for his new social media company is to rival Silicon Valley tech titans like Facebook, Twitter, and Google, from which he has been nearly universally banned.

The company’s initial product, a social media network, will be called “TRUTH.”

A TMTG company overview says the following.

TMTG aspires to create a media powerhouse to rival the liberal media consortium and fight back against the ‘Big Tech’ companies of Silicon Valley, who have used their unilateral power to silence opposing voices in America. In January 2021, ‘Big Tech’ (Facebook, Twitter, and others) began to forcibly silence President Donald J. Trump and many other conservative voices. This is unacceptable. If Big Tech can censor the President of the United States, they can censor anyone. To counter this liberal bias and dangerous exercise of tech monopoly censorship, Donald J. Trump and TMTG intend to create a media and technology company digital streaming, information technology infrastructure, and more.

The overview notes that Trump intends to “level the playing field” with the left-wing ideology pushed by Silicon Valley tech companies.
