President Trump to Speak in Minnesota on Monday

President Trump is scheduled to visit Minnesota on Monday, the first stop in a three-part campaigning tour including Wisconsin and Arizona. Each speech will address “Joe Biden’s failures on jobs and the economy.”

Ken Farnaso,  the deputy press secretary for the Trump campaign, confirmed Trump’s visits in a tweet Friday morning.

Several polls last month found that the presumptive Democratic candidate Joe Biden led the president in Minnesota by as much as ten to thirteen points. However, a poll released this week indicates that Minnesota is more competitive than originally thought. Trump trails Biden by only three points in the traditionally-blue state.

In response to Trump’s speaking event, Minnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) issued a press release Wednesday from Chairman Ken Martin:

“Donald Trump’s presidency has been a complete disaster for Minnesota families – from his attacks on Social Security, his harmful trade policies and his attempts to roll back the ACA and key protections for our air and water. On top of it all, his failed response to the coronavirus pandemic has spiraled the country into crisis. Over 60,000 Minnesotans have been infected by the virus, and tens of thousands more are out of work. His visit to our state is nothing more than a desperate publicity stunt and a distraction. If Trump wants to understand why voters in Minnesota will be voting for Vice President Biden, Senator Harris and DFLers at every level, he should watch our Convention. The voices of ordinary Americans he’s hurt from communities across the country will be front and center.”

Although the Republican Party of Minnesota did not issue a press release on their website or social media pages, Chairman Jennifer Carnahan tweeted that the speaking event would be a time to “celebrate the wonderful accomplishments for America under his leadership.”
