U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) applauded the signing Tuesday of the Abraham Accords, calling it a “paradigm shift.”
Blackburn on Tuesday tweeted, “Today, we are witnessing history at the @WhiteHouse. 27 years since the signing of the Oslo Accords, Israel, the UAE, and Bahrain have achieved monumental peace. This deal brings great potential and opportunity to the region and is a paradigm shift in Israel-Gulf state relations.”

President Donald Trump on Tuesday hosted the signing ceremony at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Abdullatif al-Zayani of Bahrain.
Remarks by Trump and the other officials are available here.
We’re here this afternoon to change the course of history. After decades of division and conflict, we mark the dawn of a new Middle East. Thanks to the great courage of the leaders of these three countries, we take a major stride toward a future in which people of all faiths and backgrounds live together in peace and prosperity.
In a few moments, these visionary leaders will sign the first two peace deals between Israel and the Arab state in more than a quarter century. In Israel’s entire history, there have previously been only two such agreements. Now we have achieved two in a single month, and there are more to follow.
Israel, the UAE and Bahrain will establish embassies, exchange ambassadors and begin to cooperate, Trump said. The Abraham Accords also open the door for Muslims around the world to visit the historic sites in Israel and to peacefully pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest site in Islam.
Vice President Mike Pence tweeted, “The Abraham Accords are not only a huge achievement for Israel, the UAE, and Bahrain but will serve as an example of what can happen when you put past conflicts aside and set your focus on creating a future of peace and prosperity.”
