Election officials in two key swing states are using taxpayer money to register and turn out voters who will most likely vote for Democrats in the November election.
As reported by The Federalist, Democratic officials in the states of Arizona and Nevada have announced initiatives to turn out younger voters, who overwhelmingly lean Democratic, with roughly 6 months to go before the election in the fall. Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes (D-Ariz.) announced that his office will partner with the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge to promote the “Arizona Campus Voting Challenge,” which Fontes falsely claims is a “nonpartisan initiative.”
A study from Tufts University’s Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement reveals that voters between the ages of 18 and 29 overwhelmingly voted for Democrats in the 2022 midterm elections, by a margin of 2-to-1. Colleges in Arizona will be incentivized to participate in the new program in exchange for becoming “eligible for awards based on voter turnout and registration rates on their campuses for the November 5, 2024 election.” This could be considered a form of bribery, as it is a federal crime to “make or offer to make an expenditure to any person, either to vote or withhold his vote.”
Similarly, Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar (D-Nev.) called on young voters to apply to his “Youth Advisory Task Force,” with the explicit purpose of engaging young voters ahead of the November election. In a press release, the task force’s goals were stated as “identifying and proposing programs that support participatory democracy and solutions to any problem concerning the level of participatory democracy of young voters,” and “supporting projects … that encourage and advance participatory democracy of young voters.”
Aguilar appointed multiple task force members in April, with members including “high school and college students, as well as non-students, between the ages of 17 and 24.” They will be targeting the roughly 118,000 students who are currently enrolled in Nevada colleges.
The blatant use of taxpayer funds for partisan voter initiatives by Democrats in swing states has raised further concerns of voter fraud ahead of the election, particularly after widespread voter fraud impacted the results of the 2020 election in a manner that may have ultimately swung the results away from President Donald Trump and in favor of Democrat Joe Biden.
