Tennessee legislative leaders, as well as Gov. Bill Lee, plan to stage a number of bus stops around the state for much of the rest of October to get out the vote.
The statewide Road to Victory bus tour is meant to encourage citizens to vote and to elect Republican candidates, according to a press release from the Tennessee Republican Party.
The eight-day tour begins on Monday, and it will include a total of 37 stops across 35 counties. Each will feature members of House and Senate leadership, as well as Republican candidates currently serving or running to serve their respective communities.
U.S. Rep. David Kustoff (R-TN-08), as well as other members of the state’s congressional delegation, are expected to appear at various stops, which will end in Shelby County on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Times will be announced later. The dates of stops are:
- Monday, Oct. 19 – Sumner, Wilson, Putnam, and Cumberland Counties
- Tuesday, Oct. 20 – Anderson, Knox, Hamblen, and Hawkins Counties
- Wednesday, Oct 21 – Sullivan, Washington, Cocke, Sevier, and Blount Counties
- Friday, Oct. 23 – Loudon, Bradley, Hamilton, Moore, Bedford, and Rutherford Counties
- Saturday, Oct. 24 – Davidson, Dickson, Maury, Giles, and Marshall Counties
- Monday, Oct. 26 – Montgomery, Henry, Weakley, Gibson, and Henderson Counties
- Tuesday, Oct. 27 – Madison, Crockett, Dyer, Tipton, and Fayette Counties
- Wednesday, Oct. 28 – Shelby County
House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville) said, “This election is very important to our state and nation. Tennesseans have stood strong by electing conservative leaders, and now, our great state is the least (indebted) state, second best state for businesses and one of the lowest taxed in America.”
Lt. Gov. Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge) said, “Republicans across the state are energized by our record of conservative governance and our strong unified conservative message. Bringing that message to these 35 counties will energize our voters and encourage all Tennesseans to join our cause.”
Lee said, “The Road to Victory Bus Tour will highlight the many Republican champions across our state at all levels of government who uphold our Tennessee values and keep our taxes low.”
And Scott Golden, chairman of the Tennessee Republican Party, said, “We need Tennesseans to head to the polls and vote Republican, so our state can remain a national model for all to follow.”
