Former President Trump Endorses Kari Lake’s Bid for U.S. Senate

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Kari Lake’s campaign for the U.S. Senate on Tuesday.

In a video message posted on Truth Social and shared by Lake on Twitter, Trump, who leads the current GOP primary field in the 2024 presidential race, said when he’s “back in the White House,” he’s going to need “strong fighters like Kari in the Senate.”

The former president went on to call Kari a “fighter,” saying “she’s strong, she’s good, and she’s got a great heart.”

“I will need a majority in the House and in the Senate – we have to have a big, strong majority – to help me push our America First agenda through, and to push it through really fast. That starts right here tonight by helping Kari Lake win in Arizona,” Trump said.

“Kari is one of the toughest fighters in our movement and I am proud to give her my complete and total endorsement for the United States Senate,” Trump added. “She is very special. With people like Kari fighting for Arizona in the Senate, with me in the White House we will make America great again.”

In making her announcement to run for Senate, Lake said, “I’m in this for us Arizonans, and when you elect me to the United States Senate, you are electing a mama bear on a mission to protect not just my kiddos, not just my babies. I want to protect Arizona, and I want to protect the United States of America. I promise I will make you proud.”

Lake will face Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb in the Republican primary. Incumbent Senator Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), now an independent, is expected to run for re-election, and Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ-03) is expected to be the Democratic nominee.
