We’ve seen this despicable Democrat tactic play out before.
A Republican president nominates a person universally said to be the nicest guy in the world, with a resume chock full of good works, and stellar intellectual and legal credentials to sit on the Supreme Court.
The nominee is days away from his confirmation vote.
Suddenly, a liberal female university professor, with a tenuous decades-old connection to the nominee, steps forward out of nowhere to tell a “he said – she said story” and accuse the nominee of sexual misconduct.
Democrats, who have known of the allegations for months, but did not share them with the Committee Chairman or the FBI during the investigatory phase of the nomination demand that, “due to the seriousness of the allegation” the vote on the nomination should be postponed, or perhaps the nomination should be withdrawn.
In 1991 it was Judge Clarence Thomas who was subjected to this high-tech lynching, today it is Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
An email from Taylor Foy, Communications Director for the Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, summed-up the Democrat’s disgusting attempt at character assassination this way:
It’s disturbing that these uncorroborated allegations from more than 35 years ago, during high school, would surface on the eve of a committee vote after Democrats sat on them since July. If Ranking Member Feinstein and other Committee Democrats took this claim seriously, they should have brought it to the full Committee’s attention much earlier. Instead, they said nothing during two joint phone calls with the nominee in August, four days of lengthy public hearings, a closed session for all committee members with the nominee where sensitive topics can be discussed and in more than 1,300 written questions. Sixty-five senators met individually with Judge Kavanaugh during a nearly two-month period before the hearing began, yet Feinstein didn’t share this with her colleagues ahead of many of those discussions.
It raises a lot of questions about Democrats’ tactics and motives to bring this to the rest of the committee’s attention only now rather than during these many steps along the way. Senator Feinstein should publicly release the letter she received back in July so that everyone can know what she’s known for weeks.
Judge Kavanaugh’s background has been thoroughly vetted by the FBI on six different occasions throughout his decades of public service, and no such allegation ever surfaced. Furthermore, Judge Kavanaugh and others alleged to have been involved have unequivocally denied these claims from their high school days. The Committee has received letter after letter from those who’ve known judge Kavanaugh personally and professionally, including 65 women who’ve known him since high school, speaking to his impeccable character and respect for others, especially women.
The heretofore anonymous woman who has accused Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct in high school – accusations that Kavanaugh has strenuously denied has been revealed to be Christine Blasey Ford a professor at Palo Alto University, in California.
In the interview with The Washington Post, Ford accused Kavanaugh of pinning her down and groping her before she escaped; she says another high school friend of Kavanaugh’s named Mark Judge was in the room. Judge, a D.C.-based writer, previously told The Weekly Standard – before Christine Blasey Ford was named – that the account was false.
It should surprise no one that Prof. Ford is a registered Democrat and has supported Democratic candidates and causes and that she signed a letter opposing President Trump’s immigration policies. The letter, organized by Physicians for Human Rights, claimed that “It should not be U.S. policy to traumatize children, and especially not as a form of indirect punishment of their parents.”
It should also surprise no none that much of Prof. Ford’s research and published work is about gender and the relationship of gender, depression and childhood trauma.
The person Prof. Ford named as a witness has denied that the event took place. Judge Kavanaugh has said: “I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation. I did not do this back in high school or at any time.”
We urge CHQ readers and friends to call Senators to urge Judge Kavanaugh’s prompt confirmation, starting with four Republicans who need shoring up. RESPECTFULLY urge them to vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh: Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska (202-224-6665) and Susan Collins of Maine (202-224-2523) are known to be leaning YES but could use a RESPECTFUL call of encouragement to do so. Likewise, while Republican Senators Jeff Flake of Arizona (202-224-4521) and Ben Sasse of Nebraska (202-224-4224) have spoken favorably of Judge Kavanaugh, neither has made an unequivocal commitment to vote to confirm him.
After those four phone calls we urge you to work your way through the remaining Republican Senators urging them not to be taken in by this “high-tech lynching.”
