Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN-02) assured her constituents last week that she supports an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY-10) said that impeachment hearings will begin this week, prompting prominent Minnesota lawyer Richard Painter to question where Craig stands on the issue.
“It’s not too much to ask your representative in Congress to support a health care system used in every other major democracy (single payer) and to impeach a president who would not be tolerated in any democracy. Ready Angie Craig? That or voters need a third option,” Painter, who lives in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District, wrote on Twitter.

A few days later, Painter took to Twitter to inform his followers that Craig personally informed him she supports impeachment.
“Rep. Angie Craig—winner in a red-to-blue House district—sent me this transcript from her town hall meeting with constituents in which she expresses full support for the House impeachment investigation. Thanks Angie! Impeachment. It’s time,” he wrote, and provided the following excerpt from one of Craig’s recent town halls:
“There is an impeachment investigation underway in the Judiciary Committee. As we stand here today I believe as a member of Congress for the Second Congressional District and I support the investigation that is underway in the Judiciary Committee. Fully support it.”

As The Minnesota Sun reported, Rick Olson, a former Republican state legislator from Michigan, recently announced that he will challenge Craig for her seat.
“It’s time CD2’s voice and vote is again one of limited government and free markets,” Olson said of his campaign. He said the American dream “is now being put at risk in favor of rising calls for socialism.”
Craig unseated former Rep. Jason Lewis in the 2018 midterms, and Lewis recently announced that he will run for the U.S. Senate against Sen. Tina Smith in lieu of running against Craig for a third time.
