Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) is polling worse than former Secretary of State John Kerry, who hasn’t even declared candidacy, according to a new CNN poll.
The poll, conducted between March 14 and March 17, had Klobuchar at three percent among likely voters, while Kerry received four percent. Just 14 percent of respondents had a favorable opinion of Klobuchar, compared to 18 percent who had an unfavorable opinion. Most respondents (54 percent), however, have “never heard of” Klobuchar.
Former Vice President Joe Biden still leads the pack at 28 percent, followed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) at 20 percent, and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) at 12 percent. As a second choice, still only three percent of respondents selected Klobuchar.
Overall, 56 percent of Democratic-leaning respondents prefer a presidential candidate with a strong chance of beating President Donald Trump, as opposed to the 35 percent who would like a candidate who “shares your positions on major issues.”
Morning Consult’s most recent weekly poll found similar results, but had Klobuchar polling even worse at two percent. The best Klobuchar has polled is four percent, which she received February 17, shortly after her February 11 announcement.
In the name recognition category, 38 percent similarly said they have never heard of Klobuchar, while 27 percent said they have a favorable opinion of Klobuchar.
