Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) said she will be making “a big announcement on Sunday” just moments after President Donald Trump concluded his second State of the Union Address.
“Bundle up. I’ve got a big announcement to make. Let us know you’ll be there,” Klobuchar said in a video posted to Twitter Wednesday morning.

“Hey, everyone. I’m Amy Klobuchar, and I’ve got a little announcement to make. Bundle up and meet me at Boom Island in Minneapolis on Sunday, February 10,” Klobuchar says in the video. The Minnesota senator has been considering a presidential run for several months now, and it is expected that she will confirm her plans to run during Sunday’s event.
On Wednesday evening, Huffington Post published a story claiming that former Klobuchar staffers described their ex-boss as “habitually demeaning and prone to bursts of cruelty that make it difficult to work in her office for long.”
According to Huffington Post, at least three people have withdrawn their names from consideration to lead Klobuchar’s prospective 2020 campaign because of her reputation as a demanding boss.
She’s notorious for her record of having one of the highest turnover rates for Senate staffers, a record she carried between 2001 and 2016, according to The New York Times.
After Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, Klobuchar joined MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow to offer her reaction to the president’s speech.
“I thought it was wonderful to honor those heroes, but those heroes were heroes for their time, and we need someone in the White House that’s a hero for their time,” she said. “That’s what really bothered me. He had some beautiful rhetoric in there, and he honored some wonderful people, but he wasn’t moving us forward and rising to the challenges of the day.”
Klobuchar will be returning to Iowa February 21 to headline the Ankeny Area Democrats Winter Banquet.
