Ilhan Omar Called An Adulteress in Lover’s Divorce Proceedings

The now ex-wife of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN-05) love interest called the freshman congresswoman an adulteress in divorce court this week.

During a 16-minute hearing in a Washington, D.C. courtroom Thursday, Dr. Beth Jordan asked to make a statement about her husband’s relationship with Omar.

“I have a statement to make,” Jordan said, claiming her husband “had an affair with Ilhan Omar.” A judge cut her off and called the attorneys for a sidebar before she could finish, according to The Daily Mail.

Tim Mynett, owner of the political consulting firm E Street Group, was seen smiling and clapping after officially parting ways with his wife of seven years. Jordan asked for her maiden name to be restored during the court hearings because she no longer wanted “to have Mr. Mynett’s name attached to me.”

“On multiple occasions, due to the unhappy and unfulfilling nature of their relationship, the parties discussed separation and divorce,” Mynett’s attorneys claimed in court papers. “Throughout the marriage, the parties had numerous discussions about the problems in their relationship and Mr. Mynett repeatedly voiced to Ms. Mynett that he was unhappy and believed she was likewise unhappy.”

Jordan’s attorneys said that she was “not going to let Tim paint a false picture of their marriage, which was happy and fulfilling before Ilhan came on the scene.” In court papers she filed, Jordan claimed that the marriage fell apart when Mynett announced that he was “romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar.”

According to the New York Post, Jordan first learned of her husband’s involvement with Omar in April when he made a “shocking declaration of love” for her.

Jordan further accused her ex-husband of putting their 13-year-old son in “harm’s way” by taking him out in public “with Rep. Omar who at the time had garnered a plethora of media attention along with death threats.”

Omar finalized her divorce from Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her three children, in October, citing an “irretrievable breakdown of the marriage relationship.”

The National Legal and Policy Center filed an FEC complaint against Omar in August for her apparent use of campaign funds for “romantic companionship” after it was revealed that her campaign committee had disbursed $223,000 to E Street Group, Mynett’s firm.

In the third quarter of this year, FEC records showed that Omar’s campaign paid another $146,713 to Mynett’s consulting firm. Mynett’s “more recent travel and long work hours now appear to be more related to his affair with Rep. Omar than with his actual work commitments,” Jordan said in her divorce filing.

Omar has denied the existence of the affair, but the pair have been spotted leaving the same apartment on numerous occasions and were pictured sitting together at public functions.
