Michelle Obama’s ‘Intimate Conversation’ Tour Will Stop at Downtown St. Paul Sporting Venue

Former first lady Michelle Obama will stop at St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center in March during the final leg of her “intimate conversation” book tour.

Obama has been touring the country to promote her new memoir “Becoming,” and has titled her corresponding book tour: “An Intimate Conversation With Michelle Obama.” Most stops on the tour, however, are held at massive sporting and concert venues, including the Xcel Energy Center, which is where the Minnesota Wild play.

According to its website, the Xcel Energy Center can hold “more than 20,000 guests” and occupies 650,000 square feet with four different seating levels plus a press level.

Tickets for her March 13 stop in St. Paul will go on pre-sale December 13, and ticket prices for the event are not yet displayed. However, The Daily Caller reports that ticket prices for other stops of the tour range from $300 to $2,500.

In contrast, tickets for the Clinton’s world tour have plummeted, and are selling for as little as $11. In September, The New York Post reported that tickets for Obama’s tour were going for “obscene” prices, noting that while nosebleeds are selling for $30, some front-row seats are going for as much as $3,000.

The Obamas signed a joint book deal with Penguin Random House in March 2017, and the power couple is expected net more than $65 million from the deal, according to reports from Yahoo.

Obama announced the new stops on her tour in a Tuesday tweet, saying that she’s “having so much fun with all of you” that she “decided to do one final round of events to see folks in some cities we missed.”

“These conversations have been so meaningful for me, and I hope they’ve been meaningful for you all, too,” she wrote.
